SCP: Secret Laboratory is a free multiplayer game set in the SCP Foundation universe: scientists and Class-D personnel try to escape the facility while the SCPs and security try to stop them. Our servers come with the EXILED plugin framework preinstalled.
Where the config files are
The configuration lives in .config/SCP Secret Laboratory/config/<port>/, where <port> is your server port (see the Network tab). The key files are:
config_gameplay.txt- server name and gameplay rules,config_remoteadmin.txt- staff ranks and permissions.
The files appear after the first server start. The .config folder starts with a dot - if you cannot see it in the file manager, scroll the list or type the path by hand.
config_gameplay.txt
The most important options:
server_name: <color=#ffd11a>[EU]</color> Our SCP server serverinfo_pastebin_id: max_players: 20 friendly_fire: false
server_name- the name in the server list. Color tags are supported.serverinfo_pastebin_id- the ID of a Pastebin page with your server info (rules, Discord), shown when someone clicks your server in the list.max_players- set it to match your plan.
Restart the server after a change.
Owner and staff (Remote Admin)
Ranks and permissions are in config_remoteadmin.txt. In the Members section you assign players to ranks by their Steam ID:
Members: - 76561198000000000@steam: owner - 76561198000000001@steam: moderator
The ID is your SteamID64 (look it up at steamid.io) followed by @steam. The owner, admin and moderator ranks are defined in the same file, together with the permissions of each.
In the game the admin panel (Remote Admin) opens with the M key. It has the player list, class changes, bans, teleports and round controls.
EXILED plugins
EXILED is the plugin framework for SCP:SL. Upload plugins (.dll) to:
.config/EXILED/Plugins/
Plugin configs appear after the first start in .config/EXILED/Configs/. You can find plugins on GitHub and on the EXILED community Discord. Check that a plugin supports your EXILED and game version - after SCP:SL updates, plugins often need new releases.
Server list visibility
To appear in the public in-game server list, a server has to pass verification by the game developers (Northwood Studios). An unverified server works normally, but players join it directly by IP address and port (Direct Connect in the game menu). The rules and how to apply are described in the official SCP:SL server documentation. Verified servers must follow Northwood's rules, including those about names and plugins.
Connecting to the server
In the game choose Play → Direct Connect and enter the address and port from the Network tab in the game panel.
Updates
SCP:SL and EXILED update independently. After a big game update, wait for a compatible EXILED version - a server with an outdated EXILED may not start. Make a backup in the Backups tab before updating.
EU server in Helsinki, instant setup after payment, backups and full file access.
