How do I use the /give command in Minecraft?
Copy the generated command and paste it into the game chat or the server console. In chat you need operator permissions (OP) or cheats enabled in a single-player world. In the server console you can leave out the leading slash.
Why does the command not work on my version?
The item syntax changed in 1.20.5 (components instead of NBT) and again in 1.21.5 (simpler names and enchantments). Pick the version your server runs in the generator and the command adapts automatically.
Can I give an enchantment level higher than in survival?
Yes. The /give command allows levels up to 255, for example Sharpness 10. Such items work on the server but can break the balance, so use them carefully on public servers.
What does @p mean?
It is the nearest player selector. You can also use @a (all players), @r (a random player), @s (yourself) or a specific player name.
