Palworld keeps its world settings in a single file. There is one trap that makes most changes disappear.
Stop the server first
Palworld overwrites the settings file when it shuts down. If you edit it while the server is running, the old values come back on the next restart. The order is always: stop the server, change the file, start the server.
Where the file is
In the file manager of the game panel:
Pal/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/PalWorldSettings.ini
All options sit in one long line that starts with OptionSettings=(. Only change the values after the = sign. A deleted bracket or comma makes the game ignore the whole file and fall back to the defaults.
What is worth setting
Difficulty- the overall difficulty level.ExpRate=2.000000- faster leveling. For a server with friends who play in the evenings, 2-3 is a sensible value.PalCaptureRate- easier Pal catching.DayTimeSpeedRateandNightTimeSpeedRate- the length of day and night. Shorter nights (NightTimeSpeedRate=2.000000) are one of the most popular changes.PlayerDamageRateAttackandEnemyDamageRateAttack- damage dealt by players and by enemies.DeathPenalty- what you lose on death:None,Item,ItemAndEquipmentorAll.bEnablePlayerToPlayerDamageandbIsPvP- fighting between players.GuildPlayerMaxNum- the maximum guild size.ServerPassword- a join password, if the server is only for friends.
Write numbers with a dot and six decimal places, as in the file (2.000000), and true/false values as True and False.
Server name and admin password
Do not look for these two in the file - you set them in the Startup tab of the panel, because we overwrite them at startup. The admin password is generated automatically when the server is created; you can see it in the same tab.
In the game you log in with a chat command:
/AdminPassword YourPassword
After that /Shutdown, /KickPlayer, /BanPlayer and /Save work.
Turn on backups
Palworld can corrupt the world save after a sudden shutdown - this is not a rumor, it is everyday life with this game. In the client area, on the service page, pick the ready-made schedule for a daily backup at 4:00. It takes ten seconds and one day it will save your base.
Before a bigger settings change, make a manual backup in the Backups tab.
